About Siargao

Siargao is a tear-drop shaped island in the Philippine Sea, situated 800 kilometers southeast of Manila,
with the cluster of small islands to the east and south.
The western shore of Siargao is the edge of Philippines
trench, leaving it open and unprotected from
the Pacific Ocean. And it became the key element
supporting perfect waves for Siargao.
After cloud 9 was unintentionally founded by
international surfers in 1980, it continuously gaining
popularity amongst world surfers. Today, it is named as
the surfing capital of Philippines. Also, Siargao is the
annual host of Siargao international surfing competition,
which is one of the world-famous surfing competitions.
Not only the world class wind & wave, Siargao also
provides attractive peaceful beach, picturesque island,
crystal blue water. Consequently, It was recognized as best island in the world in 2019 by Conde Nast Traveler.
In 2021, it is awarded as the best island in Asia from
reader choice award by Conde Nast Traveler.

Sugba Lagoon recently becomes one of the famous attraction due to its flashy blue water pool surrounded by marvelous mangrove forest and mountains. Sayongsong

This famous Siargao delicacy is a traditional Filipino streamed “kakanin” wrapped in banana leaves. It’s made up of glutinous rice, brown sugar, calamansi juice, roasted peanut, and coconut milk. Sayongsong is favorite dessert or snack in this region. And it can be easily found in public markets, food stalls, and “pasalubong” shops.

Kinilaw

Kinilaw is a common dish for many provinces. What sets apart
Siargao’s kinilaw among others is its exotic flavor. This local delicacy
is made of raw fish and it does not involve any form of cooking.
To prepare this native cuisine, the people of Siargao debone and
wash the raw fishes and combine it with a number of condiments.
The perfect mix of ginger, vinegar, onions, chili peppers, and salt
makes this delicacy a uniqueness of taste.

By air

Sayak airport is the main airport of Siargao island and it is connected to domestic destinations only. Consequently, international travelers need to go Manila firstly, then connect the domestic flight to visit Siargao.
At present, there are 4 main airlines, namely, Philippines airline, Cebu Pacific, Air Asia and Skyjet that operate daily flight from Manila, Cebu, Davao. Normally, flight from Manila to Siargao takes around 1.5 hours to 2.5 hours depends on the departed city. In conclusion, Airline is the fastest way for travelers to reach Siargao island.

By ferry

It is not economical way to use Ferry because it will consume approximately 34 hours from Manila to Siargao. However, the nearest port to Siargao island is Surigao city port which will take around 2.5 hours by ferry to reach Siargao. Many ferry, namely Evaristo & sons sea transport and JP shipping line, operate in this daily route.
