Lechon Buwaya

Lechon, literally means the suckling pig in Spanish, is one of the famous dishes in Philippines. However, if you need to try the exotic and unique style of Lechon in Davao, you need to try Lechon Buwaya, which is the roasted crocodile instead of pig. It is one of unmissable delicacy when visiting Davao. Travelers can find Lechon Buwaya in some buffet restaurant or in some special occasions like birthday or town fiesta.

Kinilaw

Davao is never run out of fresh abundant seafoods due to the bountiful vast marine areas. Kinikaw is famous seafood that travelers can easily find out in Davao. Davao Kinilaw are normally made from fresh yellowfin tuna, mackerel, or swordfish, with cucumber and chili peppers marinated in vinegar. In Davao, there is slight combination of marinated pork topped into the kinilaw called “Sinuglaw” which creating ubiquitous dish that travelers need to try once.

Davao is named as “the durian capital of Philippines”, so the travelers’ trip to Davao will never be completed without eating durian. Delicious durian is easily found in Davao. Moreover, there are lot of durian snacks available as Pasalubong (means the souvenir gift) namely, durian candy and durian tart. More special durian products are durian ice cream, durian cheesecake and durian coffeeccino which available in Davao.

By Air

Since the distance between Manila to Davao is approximately 1,480 kilometers, traveling via air is highly recommended. Currently, there are 2 airlines operating in this Manila-Davao route which are Air asia Philippines and Philippines Airline. Flight duration for direct flight is around 2 hours. At present, Davao International Airport, is the main airport serving Davao City and Davao Region in the Philippines. It also providing the direct international flight to Davao.

By bus

There is no direct bus from Manila to Davao. Travelers need to travel via bus and transfer to use ferry. But the duration is very time consuming, which is around 48 hours. Consequently, it is not a good recommendation to use this option.
