Donsol area is abundant in plankton and krill, which is the main food source of these gentle giants. Since it is eco-tourism, whale sharks are not fed, travelers are limited to snorkeling option, prohibited to touch them and maximum 6 snorkelers per one whale shark.

Laing

Laing is considered as one of Bicolano famous dish in this area. This popular dish is a coconut-milk based dish mixed with shredded taro leaves, garlic, ginger, lemongrass, chilies, shrimp paste and meat (pork, chicken or even fish). This classic Bicolano dish is creamy, spicy, and delicious when accompany with steamed rice.

Kinunot is the traditional Bicolano creamy dish made with a perfect combination of stingray, coconut milk, malunggay or moringa leaves, onions, garlic, and hot chilies. Kinunot normally served as appetizer for Bicolano but it can be served as main dish. It is very appealing to when served together with rice.

By Air

It is recommended to travel from Manila to Bicol as the distance is approximately 470 kilometers and currently there is no international direct flight to Bicol. Major airport in Bicol is Bicol international airport (previously named Legazpi airport). Flight duration shall take around 1.5 hours from Manila to Bicol. Major airlines operating in this route are Philippines Airlines, Cebu Pacific and Cebgo.

By bus

Traveling by bus from Manila to Bicol is option for budget-saving travelers. The fastest bus has the duration of 10hours. Travelers can catch the bus at Paranaque Integrated Terminal, Manila to Naga City Bus Terminal, Bicol. Optionally, travelers can choose the bus at EDSA Cubao, Manila to Naga Bicol Central Station.
